COMICS AGAINST HUMANITY
Join Carlo Rojas as he hosts a variety of fun features of Comedy Night at Hi-Fidelity!
Comics Against Humanity: Is a combination of Trivia and Comedy Open Mic. Comics can sign up for 3-5 minute sets starting at 7pm and the audience plays trivia with answers in the style of Cards Against Humanity, so the right answer doesn’t necesarily award more points than a funny answer. Each round of trivia and comedians comes with a chance to win prizes!

MODERN FRIENDSHIP RESIDENCY
Music and Friends at Hi-Fidelity Every 2nd Friday of the Month except for sometimes when it’s not! (But it is this time) Friday Feb 14th come out for music and beer and good times!

Small Books and Tall Pours
Join us at the Hi-Fidelity book club, Small Books and Tall Pours every third Saturday at 2:00! This Month we’re reading Open City by Teju Cole!
In a Carmelite monastery on the outskirts of Los Angeles, life has continued virtually unchanged for centuries. Here, Sister John of the Cross lives in the service of God. She is the only nun who experiences visions and is regarded by the others as a spiritual master. But Sister John is also plagued by powerful headaches and when a doctor reveals that they may be dangerous, she faces a devastating choice. Is this grace merely an illness and will a ‘cure' mean the end of her illuminations and a soul dry and searching?

Songwriter's Circle
Introducing our first ever Songwriter’s Workshop! John, Flying Crowbar, is hosting this open format workshop. Come with questions! Come with answers! Come with nothing at all! Bring that cool riff that needs a chorus, or those lyrics that don’t have the right melody yet. We meet on the third Saturday of the month right after book club!
Symposium
Every Sunday afternoon is a public symposium at Hi-Fidelity. Very casual open ended inquiries into whatever you’d like! We’ll nominate topics, vote on what to chat about, and then have a lightly moderated conversation (it’s not a debate club, I try to make sure everyone has a chance to speak). There are no limits to potential topics for nomination! Metaphysics, ethics, music, unsolved mysterious, or supernatural encounters! Whatever strikes your fancy!
On Sundays prior to a Portland City council meeting Symposium takes a slight shift into current affairs and becomes a Public Forum. I’ll have a copy of the council’s agenda available at the bar. The focus will be on Portland but bring any topic from the Maine political scene. In contrast to the Symposium, the Forum is more fact oriented. While not required, I strongly encourage brining verifiable information about any topic you’d like to nominate for discussion
TTRPG at Hi-Fidelity
First and Third Sundays of the month an intrepid group of adventures gathers at Hi-Fidelity in search of glory, treasure, and justice (terms and conditions apply)!
Join us for a night of rolling dice and slaying monsters! Players of all experience levels are welcome and we have dice and character sheets to spare.
Currently the party is all level one as we begin the descent into the mysterious Sunless Citadel, home to a tribe of goblins, infested with giant rats, and Pelor knows what else!
Last time our heroes met up in the town of Oakdale and were hired to seek a group of missing explorers. While in town they overheard rumors of a strange and miraculous fruit the goblins of the citadel sell to the village once a year. Now, as the sun rises over their camp, our heroes prepare for the descent into the dark chasm where the ruined towers of the citadel pierce through the morning fog out of the darkness below.

INTERACTIVE: Groove space with space fog
Join us every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month 1pm-4pm at hi-fidelity (200 Anderson Street, Bay 6 Portland, Maine) Get to know your fellow musicians as we have a casual afternoon jam catered to all levels of experience. We will groove on simple digestible forms ranging anywhere from 1 chord to a 4 chord loop. Are we on the verse or the chorus? It doesn’t matter because each jam has a simple, repetitive, and predictable progression (we’re not even going to take it to the bridge). Respect your musical neighbors and leave space for the group to listen to each other and create something unique in the moment.
